How Many Hours Should You Sleep at Night?

One of the fastest ways to set off health is to get some sleep . It makes you fat; worsens memory; lowers immunity; detonates productivity; and makes you grow older earlier, among other things. But after all, how many hours should we sleep each night? It all depends on your age. The BBC recently published a survey on the ideal amount of sleep :

  • Teen (14 to 17 years old): around 10 hours a day
  • Young adults (18-25 years): 7 to 9 hours a day
  • Adults (26-64 years): 7 to 9 hours a day
  • Seniors (65 years and over): 7 to 8 hours a day

As we can see, for most of our lives - from 18 to 64 years old - the ideal is between 7 to 9 hours of sleep. The research also provides recommendations for babies and children . In general, when younger, the more hours we should sleep. In the case of newborns, for example, the suggestion is 14 to 17 hours daily. As we get older, the need gradually decreases.

SLEEP & HEALTH

It is extremely important not to fall below the limit recommended by the experts. In addition to those health problems we mentioned at the beginning of the text, a study found that if you sleep less than 6 hours a night, your risk of heart attack is 50% higher.

And don't think that it's good to get a little sleep during the week and then make up for it on Saturday and Sunday . This may even help recharge your energy, but the health effects are almost nil.

Convinced to pay more attention to your sleep from now on?
